Traditional and Ritual Theater Fest awarded Golab Adineh

Iranian actress Golab Adineh has won award at the Traditional and Ritual Theater Festival in Tehran.

Iranian actress Golab Adineh has won award at the Traditional and Ritual Theater Festival in Tehran.

The veteran actress won the special award of Ali Nasiriyan at the 18th edition of the festival.

The award was given at the closing ceremony of the Iranian event in Tehran in the presence of many Iranian stars.

Born Golab Mosta'an in1954, Golab Adineh holds a degree in Political Economics from Iran's Shahid Beheshti University.

She began theater acting in 1975 as a student in a troupe formed by Mehdi Hashemi and Dariush Farhang, appeared in many plays.

However, it was her performance in the drama 'Sultan and the Sheppard' (1981) which shot her to fame. She has also tried her hand at directing.

The Iranian actress' appearance in 'The Girl With the Blue Scarf' (1994) took a Crystal Simorgh for Best Actress in a Supporting Role from the Fajr International Film Festival.

She went on to star in other films by Rakhshan Bani-Etemad, including 'The Lady Of Ordibehesht' (1997) and 'Under the Skin of the City' (1999).

Her performance in 'Mom's Guest' (2003) secured her a place as a powerful actress in Iran cinema.

Adineh has been a candidate of a Crystal Simorgh for Best Actress in a Leading Role for 'Mom's Guest' and 'While Everyone Was Asleep' (2005).

This year’s edition of the festival included sections such as Traditional puppetry, Dramatic story-telling and national narratives and Ritual Theater.  

The 18th edition of Traditional and Ritual Theater Festival was held in the Iranian capital city of Tehran on August 30-September 6, 2017.
